Celeb Watch Easter 2011

What joy Celeb watchers – Easter is upon us, the perfect excuse to gorge on chocs and shop ready for summer, simply heaven! With the boring old economy still not too perky the least we can do is help out in our own little way by pouring some cash into the tills of our favourite retail outlets. If the summer look is to be perfect, a touch of sunnie magic will be the perfect accessory. A spot of celeb inspiration will help us on the way, and this week it’s all going round………

Katie Holmes – She may like her husbands on the petite side but the same is not true of her specs…..rocking a seriously big pair of bug eye shades in the cute new round shape.

Elizabeth Hurley – A change of focus from her usual favourite pair of accessories, another bug-eye curvy sunnie but a relaxed vibe thanks to laid back graduated lenses.

Sarah Jessica Parker – everyone’s fave yummy mummy chic and luxurious in the look of the week with a slim side and a discreet touch of logo. Always on trend SJP….

Kate Moss – Finally ditching the RayBan for a soft aviator which is just veering towards round, a nice variation on the obvious trend.

Thanks for the inspiration then celebs, all looking good for the sunny season. Must have list is a dash of colour block clothing, a spritz of Saint Tropez, and a star worthy sunnie, where round is clearly the new black. Must be the influence of all those Easter eggs….

Celeb Watch – February 2011

After drooling over our Celeb friends in their golden globe outfits (and admiring the golden globes of many girls on the red carpet !) We’re exhausted by all the Celeb watching but looking forward to chucking out the cruise collections and getting excited about the new season. Goodbye January, hello Fabulous February – we just need some camouflage to help us sparkle into spring. Now who’s inspired us this month……

Helena Bonham-Carter – You gotta give the girl credit for true originality. Not only cosy on the big screen with our very fave Mr Darcy Colin Firth, but firmly semi-ensconced with the deliciously dark Tim Burton, and now wowing us on the catwalk. Mis-matched shoes – check. Mad hair – check. Very groovy round sunnies that she may have borrowed off Johnny Depp – check. A true one off – go Helena!!

Jennifer Aniston – Not gracing the red carpet at the globes, but looking pretty cool about town this week in an elegant deep plastic with a wide proportion across the face – very flattering. She may not have loved her Rachel cut but we’re loving your style Jen…

Kate Moss- Seen out and about, finally in a change from those so-last-century Wayfarer style sunnies. A grown up sweeping wide plastic, in a cool shape. A chic graduated tint brings further attention to those killer cheek bones – as if they need it!

Nicole Ritchie – not always our fave style Queen but looking cool this week in a classic Aviator. Shiny gold is pretty with her sun kissed blonde locks, and the obligatory Celeb camouflaging dark lens.

So plenty of inspiration out there this week Celeb fans, Helena looks like an easy icon to follow, just need to throw away the hair brush, pair up all our shoes in mad combinations, and borrow dad’s John Lennon sunnies. Sorted!!

Celeb Watch July 2010

A proper English Summer Celeb watchers, what a fabulous fashion opportunity. At last we can bask in our Melissa Odabash swimmies without a cardie on top! Forget St Barts, with this weather Clacton might just be the new Caribbean. We never thought we’d leave Glasto with less mud than we arrived with! Talking of which, festival chic is the perfect barometer for fashion for the rest of the summer, so what did we spy, in between swooning our latest girl crush, Kylie the new Aphrodite….

Kate Moss – Finally giving the Wayfarers a rest and stepping out in the cutest Aviator to match her boy crush Jamie Hince. Sweet! Killer on the cheekbones Kate, a great look.

Alexa Chung – Cool once more, in a divine take on the Wayfarer look, a deep plastic that complimented her elfin face shape perfectly.

Sienna Miller – A beach babe Aviator shape that looked chilled and laid back with her unstructured hair and that ever present ghost of boho vibe.

Kylie – Our fave babe weighed down by this season’s biggest sunnie so far, an Eighties homage with huge dark lenses, nicely balanced with skinny rims and sides. Why just kiss Ana Matronic Kylie? We were waiting……..

Festival season wore us out Darlings, so now it’s time to chill with the left over Wimbledon Pimms before we head off to the beach. Check the packing – Stella McCartney clutch full of Aviators, Chanel Coco lippy, Gucci cuff, Jimmy Choos – see how exhausting the last couple of weeks have been…..

Super Sunnies

My excitement levels are so high this week that I’ve had to write and share with you. I’m the proud owner of my very own pair of one off, totally individual designer glasses, and the sun has come out to celebrate with me! I’ll let you in on the secret even though I know you’ll only want them too!

I’ve worn glasses since my teens, and being short sighted I need them all the time for driving, TV, walking around, shopping etc. I’ve always loved sunglasses but have not worn them since before I got a prescription, as of course I can’t see with them on. Browsing an online optician site, I realised that I could order frames and have a dark lens put into them, creating my one off sunnie specials!

I mailed the IGC to check what I would need. With my prescription and a dark tint they said I didn’t need a special UV filter, just a dark tint on my plastic lenses would be ok. I found out I could also have the anti-reflection coat which I have on my clear specs. I kept looking through my magazines to see what style to go for. I’ve got quite a little face so the Nicole Ritchie/ Victoria Beckham huge shades are silly on me.

I saw Chloe Sevigny in a square shaped black frame, Kate Moss has this style too, so I choose a Gucci frame which was near to this. I ordered it with dark grey lenses, and waited with breathless excitement for the post! They came within a week and I love love love them! They are the perfect size and shape and no one else has got a pair exactly like mine – so order yourself some but please pick your own!

Celebrity Spectacle Spotter – The Hot News March 2009

Are you sitting on your sofa but gazing up at the stars? Then rely on us to put you in the picture with the hottest celebrity sunglass style this month……

Jennifer Anniston – another alleged break up but a fabulous pair of glasses – rocking the mysterious look with deep black plastic frames and a smoky graduated tint.

Kate Moss – Really turned heads at Paris Fashion week with a hot new look and a cool pair of oversized shades. A gorgeous frame that perched beautifully on those razor sharp cheekbones.

Victoria Beckham – Excited the fashion pack at Milan airport with her right on trend military style coat. Of course we were more interested in those glasses……..Cool over sized aviators that would probably look just as amazing on delicious David.

Peaches Geldof – Doing geek chic with her usual panache, wearing retro glasses in a 1950s shape, bang on trend in a cool cream colour with dark lenses.

Cheryl Cole – Accessorising her Comic relief T with semi rimless glasses in an oversized aviator shape. A dark all over tint for true celeb style, but we still knew it was you Cheryl!
